UFC 146 Round-by-Round Review: Cain Velasquez vs. Antonio Silva
Round 1: Velasquez immediately catches the kick and dumps Silva to the mat, working ground and pound. Silva lands an up kick as Velasquez works from guard. Velasquez in half guard now, working ground and pound. One elbow from Velasquez opens Silva up; he's bleeding everywhere and having a hard time seeing. Rosenthal stops the fight to have a doctor check the cut. The doc lets it go. Rosenthal restarts them on the ground. Velasquez is back on Silva with a purpose. There's blood everywhere as Velasquez pours it on Silva. Silva turtles up and Velasquez is pounding away. Silva is active on the ground, trying to survive. Velasquez fires off a volley of punches that forces Rosenthal to halt the fight to save Silva.
Big win for Velasquez, who sent a message to the rest of the heavyweights: he's back.
