UFC 128: Shogun vs. Jones Results and Analysis


The hype train of light heavyweight challenger Jon Jones rolled into Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey for UFC 128 and it left with some gold hardware. Besides stopping a robbery just hours before his fight Jones had the biggest fight of his your career against Mauricio Rua. Just like the previous UFC fights for Jones, he made this one look effortless and easy and is now the UFC light heavyweight champion.

The rest of the main card saw two decision victories and two third round technical knockouts. Former WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber won a tough decision against former bantamweight champion Eddie Wineland to position himself near the top of the bantamweight division. Lightweight contender Jim Miller became the fight fighter to finish Kamal Shalorus and now has a seven fight win streak in the UFC. Depending on the outcome of the Anthony Pettis vs. Clay Guida fight Miller could possibly be next in line for a shot at the title.
