Jay Glazer of Foxsports.com reported previously that Tennessee Titans QB Vince Young missed some treatments on his injured ankle this past week. While Young himself has said that’s not true, NFL.com’s Mike Lombardi confirms Glazer’s report.
And then kicks it up a notch.
“I was told by a reliable source that Titans QB Vince Young did miss treatment last week and Friday meetings,” Lombardi writes. “The feeling in the Titans building is that he is extremely unreliable. His work ethic will need to improve if he is going to turn his career around. Young has not endeared himself to teammates, who know the real story about his work ethic. He did not even try to work out before Sunday’s game, just accepting his number two status. He then showed, when he had to play when Kerry Collins got hurt, he was more than capable. The Titans need Young to grow up fast, and stop making excuses.”
But will Young ever mature? We keep waiting and waiting. He’ll take some steps forward and play well, and then stuff like this surfaces. Teammates want a QB that they can go to battle for, but it doesn’t seem like that would be the case with Young.
It doesn’t matter at this point. With Kerry Collins lost for a few weeks, VY will simply have to step up and stop being a lousy leader if the Titans expect to win any games.
