Tiger Woods has been the butt of a lot of jokes after his highly publicized, media-scrutinized cheating scandal came to light last year. As a result of his indiscretions, understandably, Woods has lost a number of well-known sponsorships and cover appearances.
None of those losses, however, were as odd as his most recent.
Apparently, Woods won’t even be appearing on the cover of his own video game that also happens to have his name in the title.
That’s right, “Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters” for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Wii will not feature Woods on the cover.
Up until this release, Woods was on every cover of the bestselling golf video game since 1999. This year, though, a yellow flag from The Masters golf course will stand as the lone photograph on the cover of the iconic game.
According to David Cole of DFC Intelligence, the game’s sales for the 2011 incarnation were down 50 to 60 percent around the world from 2009.
Aside from essentially being hidden by the minds behind the artwork, Woods will also skip the media campaign that he usually embarks on following the release of the game every year.
