On Thursday, the Oklahoma City Thunder decided to part ways with public address (PA) announcer Jim Miller after he was arrested and charged with three felony counts of lewd or indecent acts with a child under 16.
According to court documents obtained by News9, three children under the age of 16 accused Miller of forcing them to watch him masturbate while he viewed pornography on his computer. Two of those three kids also allegedly reported sexual abuse.
During their investigation of Miller, as you would expect, authorities seized his computer. After analyzing all of the data available, they were able to capture 449 pornographic images on the computer’s storage device and hard drive.
Police say that, thus far, Miller’s defense to the charges made against him mostly consists of him calling the alleged incidents “accidental.”
Miller has been a fairly steady voice for the Thunder ever since they arrived in Oklahoma City – ultimately serving in his capacity for four years now. Following news of the arrest, the organization sent out this statement (via News9):
"Due to the allegations and criminal case against him...Mr. Miller has been removed from his duties as Thunder PA announcer."
In a mildly unrelated but extremely creepy side note, Miller is currently a teacher and tennis coach at a local high school. As of this moment, nothing in the investigation points to any students from his school being victims in this case.
He was eventually released on $30,000 bond.
