Thiago Silva Credits Blackzilians with UFC on FUEL TV 6 Success

Thiago Silva pounced on a fatigued Stanislav Nedkov Saturday in the co-main event of UFC On Fuel TV: Franklin Vs. Le from China. And when he did, that was all she wrote for Nedkov's undefeated record.

Silva, who it turned out was actually leading on the scorecards heading into the third round, submitted Nedkov and handed the fighter his first career loss. In doing so, Silva also earned himself a win for the first time since 2009.

"I knew because I saw his face. He just changed his face," said Silva, of knowing that Nedkov had nothing left in the tank. "I took his legs and put him down. I used the right opportunity."

Silva was defeated by Alexander Gustafsson earlier this year in his first fight since being suspended for failing a post-fight drug test. That failed test changed a win over Brandon Vera to a no-contest, and was added to a 2010 defeat at the hands of Rashad Evans that kept him winless since a knockout of Keith Jardine in '09.

The Blackzilians-trained Silva credited his new team with his change of style, saying, "I am having good training, good coaching, good teammates and that is the result - a good fight."
