Terrell Owens needs to be in the limelight. More than money, more than the thrill of competing, more than anything, really, he needs to be at the center of attention at all times. Given that indisputable fact, it probably won’t come as a huge shock to anyone that the former NFL wide receiver attempted to secure a 10-day contract with the Los Angeles Clippers this summer.
“Well Terrell Owens — he was at our practice facility a lot this summer, begging coaches for a 10-day contract,” Blake Griffin said on the Dan Patrick Show yesterday (via Larry Brown Sports).
Celebrities trying to get 10-day NBA contracts is nothing new. Master P famously got signed to little deals by the Charlotte Hornets and Toronto Raptors. They’re usually nothing more than publicity stunts.
Thankfully the Clippers had the good sense to not bring this unnecessary distraction on board.
