Last night in a brutal loss to the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Jeff Reed shanked what should have been an easy 26-yard chip shot. It ended up not mattering, but it was just the latest example of Reed stinking up the joint. He’s missed seven of 22 attempts this year, and that’s just not going to cut it.
Speaking of cutting, however, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Steelers are considering releasing Reed.
“Pittsburgh contemplating cutting K Jeff Reed, whom Steelers franchised last off-season. Steelers bringing in kickers for workouts Tuesday,” Schefter tweets.
After the game last night, Reed had some comments for Steelers fans.
“They started (mocking me) before the game even started,” Reed said. “They buy tickets just to bash me and P Dan (Sepulveda) and LS Greg (Warren). It’s more me because points come off my foot.”
Good news, Jeff. The fans might not be bothering you soon.
