The New York Mets have been absolutely horrible ever since the All-Star Break, so it stands to reason that they would want to give fans something else to boo about. Preferably something completely and totally unrelated to the awful product they’re putting out there every single night.
What’s a good, booable distraction? Snooki, of course.
Via the New York Times:
The weirdness was not limited to costumes. As General Manager Sandy Alderson spoke to reporters, Nicole Polizzi, better known as Snooki on the MTV program “Jersey Shore,” walked past. Handlers and paparazzi trickled after her, stirring enough attention to draw a glance from the team owner Fred Wilpon. But that was not enough to redirect the spotlight from the Mets’ sour record since the All-Star break.
The Mets have now lost 10 out of their last 11 and, barring some sort of miracle turnaround, will probably miss the playoffs this year.
At least they still have Snooki, though.
