Should Mark Munoz Get a Shot at Anderson Silva if He Beats Chris Weidman?

Publish date:

Mark Munoz doesn't care if people feel like he isn't ready to challenge UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. As far as Munoz is concerned, he is right on the cusp of doing so.

Wednesday night, Munoz will return to action in the main event of UFC on FUEL: Munoz vs. Weidman against Chris Weidman. Munoz is 12-2 in his career and 7-2 in the UFC, while Weidman is a perfect 8-0 overall.

"With a win over Chris Weidman, I'm going to prove that I should have the title shot," said Munoz, while appearing on MMAjunkie Radio recently. "This is my time."

Munoz was forced out of a No. 1 contender match with Chael Sonnen earlier this year due to issues with his elbow. Surgery cleared up the problem, and the former Oklahoma State University wrestling standout feels he is now ready to compete again.

FightLine will have complete coverage of UFC on FUEL: Munoz vs. Weidman beginning with the prelims.
