Shane Carwin, Roy Nelson Will Partake in Additional Drug Testing Before Fight
The NSCA announced that Shane Carwin (12-2) and Roy Nelson (17-7) will partake in additional drug testing before they collide in The Ultimate Fighter Finale (TUF). The commission informed both fighters they would need to provide samples within 24 hours.
MMA Weekly reached out to Carwin who simply said "Thank you." Nelson has been open for the addition of random drug testing.
This is similar to the testing that occurred before UFC 146 where Alistair Overeem (36-11-1 NC) tested positive for a high testosterone level. As a result, his license was suspended for one year and he lost his spot in main event for the heavyweight championship. He remains suspended until January 2013.
Results for the test take approximately two weeks to return.
Carwin vs. Nelson headlines TUF Finale on December 15.
