Shane Carwin on His Injured Knee: "The Rehab People are Confident"
Former interim UFC heavyweight champion Shane Carwin suffered a minor knee injury during training recently. Carwin, however, believes he will be ready to go on December 15 when he faces Roy Nelson at The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale.
Carwin (12-2) and Nelson (17-7) were the most recent TUF coaches, as their season continues to move along on FX. The two heavyweights had some interesting war of words prior to the airing of the series.
"The rehab people are confident, and my strength and conditioning coach is confident (I'll be able to fight)," Carwin said, during a recent appearance on MMAjunkie.com Radio. "It's just limited on some of the things I can train right now."
Carwin is rehabbing at Denver's Steadman Hawkins Clinic, adding, "Hopefully, by the time the fight comes, the adrenaline picks up and you don't feel anything anyway."
After winning his first 12 matches, Carwin (12-2) suffered back-to-back defeats vs. Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos. Neck surgery has kept him out of action since 2011, along with the filming of TUF.
