Ronda Rousey: "I was Raised to Win Every Match Twice"

Publish date:

Strikeforce women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey knows she has plenty of pressure on her every single time she steps inside the cage. However, as far as being the one to carry the banner of women's MMA, Rousey feels no added pressure.

Next Saturday night, Rousey will defend her title against Sarah Kaufman in the main event of Strikeforce: Rousey Vs. Kaufman. The card will air on Showtime.

"It doesn't add any pressure, or change the fight at all," said Rousey, during a recent media conference call. "I am always ready. I was raised to win every match twice, even on a bad day."

Rousey, a former Olympic medalist in judo, has earned all of her MMA victories via submission. She claimed the title with a win over Miesha Tate earlier this year.

Kaufman has held the title before, dropping it to Marloes Coenen. She is 3-0 in her last three bouts since the loss.
