We hear about athletes testing positive for PED’s quite a bit. But, it’s usually masking agents or other banned substances. Now, we have someone testing positive for HGH.
It’s Mike Jacobs, a 1B for the Colorado Rockies, according to Michael Schmidt of the New York Times.
“[T]he player to test positive for hgh is mike jacobs, the former met .. he’ll be suspended for 50 games ..,” Schmidt tweets.
Ken Davidoff of Newsday believes that Jacobs is the first North American athlete to test positive for HGH. We can’t think of anyone else, can you?
Jacobs has been in Triple-A all season, so this won’t really affect the Rockies unless they were planning a September call up. He was hitting .298 (not really), with 23 HR’s (not really) and 97 RBI’s (not really). Who knows what he would have been batting if he didn’t cheat.
