Most early leads have Carmelo Anthony returning to New York to play for the Knicks next year. He loves the market there, his wife wants him to stay there, and the Knicks can pay him more money than anyone else.
But the fact remains that, for the time being, Anthony is a free agent. As one, he’s doing his due diligence and visiting a few teams around the league. He’s already met with Chicago, and is scheduled for visits with Houston, Los Angeles, and Dallas as well.
Two teams in particular – Chicago and Houston – are really doing everything they can to pry Anthony away from New York. The Bulls had Derrick Rose work out privately for Anthony in hopes of proving to him that the former league MVP is completely healthy heading in to the 2014-2015 season, and they didn't stop there.
Twitter user @SteveLippo posted a photo of a billboard outside of Chicago’s United Center showing Anthony in full Bulls gear. Trying to show Melo how good that Chicago red and black looks on him, I suppose:
Houston put up a billboard of their own for Anthony to see when arrives in town. He’s even wearing Jeremy Lin’s number:
Your move, Phil.
