Redskins Lock McNabb in Through 2015?

It’s not just that the Washington Redskins are a bad team. They are just flat-out bizarre at times. Last week against the Detroit Lions, QB Donovan McNabb was benched in favor of Rex Grossman at the two-minute drill. We were then fed about 14 explanations over the following days about why that happened. All explanations were nonsense.

Now, according to a report from ESPN‘s Michael Smith, the ‘Skins have signed McNabb to a five-year contract extension, worth $78 million with $40 million guaranteed.

That is a ton of guaranteed money for a guy you just threw under the bus. What are you doing down there? There was speculation as recently as this afternoon that McNabb could get benched again tonight against the Philadelphia Eagles if he didn’t play well.

Maybe the Redskins finally realized that the team has already matched their win total (4) from last year through just eight games. And maybe someone mentioned to Mike Shanahan that McNabb has absolutely no offensive line. And that his running backs are Ryan Torain and Keiland Williams, mainly because Shanahan brought in old dudes like Larry Johnson and Willie Parker this year as RB’s. And maybe slipped a note under Kyle Shanahan’s door that listed McNabb’s wide receiver options as Santana Moss (the only decent one), Anthony Armstrong and Joey Galloway.

We can’t wait to hear the explanation on this one.
