Rashad Evans wasn't Happy with the Training He Got at Greg Jackson's Gym
After Rashad Evans' (17-2-1) former teammate Jon Jones (17-1) won the light heavyweight title, the former champion had said he was done training at Greg Jackson's Gym. Now 18 months later and Evans can look back and see that he made the right call.
"It has such notoriety that everyone wants to come there," said Evans on Fuel TV. "In that respect, the training suffered because the coaches could only do so much. I felt like at Jackson's Gym I wasn't getting the one-on-one coaching."
After leaving Jackson's Gym, Evans suffered his second loss when Jones defeated him via unanimous decision. Evans has been linked to fight Antônio Rogério Nogueira (20-5) at UFC 156 in February next. That fight has not been confirmed.
"Me leaving the gym had nothing to do with a big fish in a little pond," said Evans. "It was about the training."
Last time Evans heard from Jackson was when he called to inform him that he would fight Jones at UFC 145.
The former contest on The Ultimate Fighter, Evans has an overall 12-2-1 record for the UFC.
