Maryland is a great school with a very solid sports program, but neither of those things mean that that people who run the show down there have good taste. Beginning with their horrible football uniforms and ending with their equally terrible new basketball uniforms, the Terps have spent the last year reminding folks what happens when you refuse to let go of a bad idea.
And so, given the school’s recent history, when word came out that Byrd Field would be getting a makeover, naturally everyone expected the worst.
Oh, ye of little faith.
On Wednesday, the powers that be showed off the new field and, surprisingly enough, it looked fine. Heck, you could even make the case that it looked pretty nice.
Via Yahoo! Sports:
"This is an exciting time for our program," Maryland coach Randy Edsall said in a statement.” We have had a great off-season with recruiting and with our players working very hard in preparation for the upcoming season. The addition of this new field will excite our entire student body and will be invaluable when it comes to recruiting in the future."
Now, if only they’d stop trying to blind fans with those dreadful uniforms…
