If Phillies fans weren’t already jacked up at the thought of losing Jimmy Rollins for two weeks, then they’ll be thrilled now! One of their staff aces, Cole Hamels, has now been placed on the disabled list as well with shoulder inflammation.
The injury is not thought to be overly serious. But, the Phillies have the best record in baseball and a fairly comfortable lead in the NL East. So they have the luxury of resting Hamels and making sure he’s right for the postseason.
Hamels has a 2.62 ERA this year and has been mowing people down. He’s set to return next Monday August 29th.
