If you’ve been searching for a stand up battle between to two fighters that can mean-mug with the best in the industry, on a card that is headlined by two legends in the world of Mixed Martial Arts your search is now over.
Today it was made official that explosive UK Welterweight Paul ‘Semtex’ Daley will be returning to Strikeforce on 30th July to fight Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos. With 31 wins by way of knockouts between these two in 45 combined wins (69% KO rate), Daley expects this bout to compare with another iconic brawl involving Santos.
“I’m happy to be fighting again. It’s a big fight. For those who haven’t seen the Melvin Manhoef v. Cyborg fight, watch it and expect the same outcome for Cyborg . He’ll be knocked out,” said Daley.
Ironically both fighters are coming off losses at the hands of the former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz, who has relinquished his title to move to the UFC and face George-St.Pierre at UFC 137. This leaves the door open for the winner of this bout potentially getting a shot at the now vacant Strikeforce welterweight title.
This much-anticipated bout will take place on the Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson card on July 30th, from the Sears Centre Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
