Boston Celtics 92 def. Charlotte Bobcats 71
Luke Harangody – BOS: Took a shot to the face that needed stitches and limited his usual minutes, but still a solid performance from the former Notre Dame standout. Has shown a consistent ability to rebound and hit jumpshots, even from the outside with his unorthodox delivery.
Matt Janning – BOS: Had a breakout performance after limited to no minutes in the first two games. The lesser known player out of Northeastern can flat out play. He was hitting jump shots, driving the lane, even threw a dunk down on a fast break. Led all scorers with 20 points and also pulled down 8 boards.
DeShawn Sims – BOS: Finally showed the offensive game that he is capable of. Very talented player with smooth handles and jumpshot for a guy at 6-8. Scored the ball from both inside and out en route to 18 points on 8-11 shooting.
Sherron Collins – CHA: DNP – We don’t know if the Bobcats are potentially hiding him from other teams or if they’re really just not that interested in seeing him play. With Raymond Felton possibly leaving this offseason, I might guess the former.
Marquis Gilstrap – CHA: Relatively limited minutes again for the athletic Gilstrap. Loves to attack and can get to the line and I’d like to see what kind of damage he can do with more minutes.
Oklahoma City Thunder 89 def. Philadelphia 76ers 80
Evan Turner – PHI: Didn’t shoot the ball well and is still struggling with fouls, but still looks with the ball and contributed in other ways with 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.
Latavious Williams - OKC: Looked good and really efficient with 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 blocks in 15 minutes of play. Threw down a thunderous dunk with an and one that had the crowd saying oohing and awing.
(Side note: Jrue Holiday has looked awesome)
New Jersey Nets 94 def. Orlando Magic 91
Derrick Favors – NJ: Not an outstanding performance for the 3rd overall pick, but still looks solid when he’s getting touches in the post. Can’t seem to shake his issues with fouling as he’s now averaged 6.7 fouls in a little over 26 minutes per game.
Damion James – NJ: Exploded for a Summer League high 30 points on 9-18 shooting. James is obviously not shy on the offensive end and he doesn’t disappoint. He looks dangerous every time he touches the ball. It’s turning into a great week for James averaging around 20 points and 6 rebounds a game.
Brian Zoubek – NJ: Mediocre performance from the National Champion. 2 points, 3 rebounds, 5 fouls in 20 minutes.
Daniel Orton – ORL: Was unimpressive for the third straight day now. No field goals and no rebounds in 17 and half minutes. He did have 4 fouls and 3 turnovers though if that’s your thing. Obviously it is still incredibly early, but Orton is turning heads for only the wrong reasons.
Stanley Robinson – ORL: Limited minutes in this game. 2 points, 3 rebounds and a block.
Jerome Randle – ORL: DNP – Orlando is probably rotating the players in different games.
Indiana Pacers 83 def. Utah Jazz 74
Paul George – IND: Great day for George as he just looked skilled and smooth on the ball. His shooting picked up this game he also had a couple impressive athletic finishes at the rim. George is looking like he can do it all offensively. Very active on the defensive end as well averaging 7 rebounds and 3 steals per game.
Lance Stephenson – IND: Another solid performance from the Pacers’ second round draft pick. Now averaging 18 points for the week. Just needs to look more to set up other guys especially if the Pacers are gonna give him minutes at the point, but the dude can clearly play.
Magnum Rolle – IND: Looking like a great pickup in the second round for Indiana. 10 points on 4-5 shooting, 8 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. However, his desire to block shots can get him in to trouble as he had 8 fouls this game.
Gordon Hayward - UTA: Struggled with his shot and was outplayed for the most part by the man selected right after him, Paul George. Still made all 5 of his free throws and contributed in other areas (2 reb, 2 stl, 1 blk). Needs to be more proactive for the 9th pick in the draft. Being a team player is nice, but this is the summer league. Show us what you got!
Jeremy Evans – UTA: Another limited day for Utah’s second round pick. It’s obvious the Jazz saw something they liked about him in workouts, but I don’t know if he’s showing enough at this point to make their final roster.
