Hansen, who’s had a fast start to 2011, appeared primed for a big win against the reeling Galfond who was in the midst of a $1.7 million downswing.
Instead the pair played just 74 hands of heads-up $500/$1,000 Cap PLO and Galfond rarely missed a beat.
In less than an hour Hansen lost $199k and abruptly quit after Galfond got lucky to hit three eights.
To make matters worse, earlier in the day Hansen had donated $58k to Dan “jungleman12” Cates in the same game bringing his losses up to a total of $257k for the day.
Despite his bad fortune, Hansen is still one of the biggest winners of 2011, still up over $800k in online poker alone.
OMGClayAiken is now down a little over $300k in 2011 although he was in the midst of a session with Scott “URnotINdanger2” Palmer when this article was published.
Some of the other big winners from last night included Sauce123 who won $83k on PokerStars while ShutTheClubDown (+$78k) and jungleman12 (+$70k) were a couple of the biggest winners on Full Tilt.
Meanwhile Also11 found a way to drop $92k on PokerStars while Johnbest (-$87k) and Roland de Wolfe (-$58k) had notable losses on Full Tilt.
