Good news, Royals fans: oddsmakers are picking your team to win the World Series tonight.
Yahoo! Sports reports that online sports book Bovada gives the Royals 7/5 odds of winning Game 7, making them a slight favorite over the visiting Giants. Bovada is siding with recent history with their odds. Get this: the home team has won the last nine World Series Game 7s. The Royals, playing at home in Kauffman Stadium tonight, have to like that stat.
The Giants will trot out 16-year veteran Tim Hudson to the mound for this game, while the Royals will roll with right hander Jeremy Guthrie. Neither of these two pitchers are aces, so it’s tough to make a prediction based on starting pitching. I’ll give the slight edge to Hudson and the Giants in this department.
More than anything, most baseball fans probably want to see a close game. This year’s league and divisional series featured tense, close games, but the same can’t be said for the World Series. The only close game of the series so far was Game 3, when the Royals edged the Giants 3-2 in San Francisco. Aside from that, the winning team has won each game by five or more runs. That’s probably fine with you if you’re rooting for one of these two teams, but for the rest of us it's pretty boring.
I’m picking the Royals to win, but that’s more of a hope than anything else.Regardless of the winner, it'd be great to see something like a 5-4 score.
