It seems that those involved in UFC 143's main event will get together and hammer out a rematch, as UFC president Dana White sent out a message through Twitter late Tuesday night. Carlos Condit defeated Nick Diaz to claim the interim UFC welterweight title this past weekend, but many felt the bout was so close, the decision could have gone either way.
"The rumor is true. Carlos did accept the fight today and Carlos is coming on Friday, not Thursday....Carlos wanted it," White posted on his Twitter account.
This would seem to confirm a message by Malki Kawa, which said, "Well, the powers to be just called. Carlos Condit and myself will be in Vegas and hope to have an announcement."
Condit told the media in the post-fight press conference that he felt he had done enough to secure a win and would face Georges St-Pierre in his next bout to unify the titles. However, it seems that "The Natural Born Killer" has had a change of heart.
Diaz' decision to retire from MMA following the loss could have an impact on the situation. Of course, a chance to get redemption against Condit may sway him to come back to the UFC.
