NFL Winners and Losers: Saints, Joe Webb, Palmer, Tebow, Mike Smith

'NFL Winners and Losers.' Each week I will take a look at some of the bonehead plays, stupid decisions and horrible calls. I'll also give credit where credit is due and point out the good surprises each week. Here. We. Go.

New Orleans Saints: The Saints just went on the road and won a game they absolutely needed to win. They clinched a playoff berth and still have a chance to take the division too. Drew Brees didn't play his best. I think that's obvious. But he made plays at clutch moments and the defense pulled through.

Joe Webb: Wow. Who saw that one coming?

Carson Palmer: Who could have known that all the Bengals needed to do was just take away their two best receiver and Carson Palmer will play like a pro bowler. He absolutely dominated the Chargers defense with a bunch of no-name receivers. Only if Marvin Lewis knew sooner...

Tim Tebow: In his second career start, Tebow earned his first win, threw his first 300-yard passing game, helped snap Denver's five-game losing streak, ran and threw for a touchdown. Pretty good.

Mike Smith: Way to show absolutely zero confidence in your offense. The Falcons were down by three with under four minutes to go and Falcons coach decided to punt the ball on fourth down with six yards needed for a first near midfield.

In that situation, there is no way to justify giving Drew Brees the ball back after seeing what Matt Ryan has done this year. How many fourth quarter comebacks has he made this year? Remember what "Matty Ice" does at home?

In the biggest moment of the season, Smith made a gutless decision and threw away an opportunity for Ryan to lead the offense to another remarkable finish. Everyone knows what the Atlanta offense is capable of, especially with less than two minutes left. You can't go conservative with the division title on the line. You just can't.

David Buehler: Missed extra points should always = cut.

Ted Ginn Jr.: I just don't get it. While Troy Smith was flipping out at Mike Singletary, Ginn walked up to Smith and started rubbing a towel in his face, as if he was a mother trying to get food off her son's face. It was just weird and I haven't heard an explanation for it. Isn't there something wrong with that?

Houston Texans:I think for every fourth quarter comeback Matt Ryan has made this year, the Texans have had a fourth quarter collapse. I actually have no idea if that's accurate but it wouldn't surprise me. - Michael Klopman
