Ndamukong Suh Hit vs. Vikings May Cost Lions in Long Term (Animated)

Reasonable people can agree to disagree about whether Ndamukong Suh is truly the dirtiest player in the NFL or not, but he’s definitely in the top three.

On Sunday, in the Detroit Lions’ first game of the season, Suh dove straight at the knee of Minnesota Vikings center John Sullivan during an interception return by linebacker DeAndre Levy.

The most bizarre thing about the whole sequence was how unnecessary Suh’s move was. He was behind on the play, as was Sullivan. Had the Lions’ much-maligned defensive leader simply done nothing, his team would’ve gotten a touchdown, and he wouldn’t be facing the punishment he is currently facing.

"I wasn't by any means going for his knees," Suh said after the game.

Maybe he was, maybe he wasn’t. Unfortunately for Suh, his reputation ensures that he won’t get the benefit of the doubt either way.

On the bright side, despite the fact that Adrian Peterson absolutely wrecked them, the Lions escaped Sunday’s showdown with a 34-24 win.
