NBA Rumors: Warriors, Hornets, 76ers, Nets, Blazers, Pacers, Mavericks Working on Deals

You can't take a day off the NBA!

*3-Way Trade! Golden State receives Jarrett Jack, Philadelphia receives Dorell Wright (GS) and Darryl Watkins (NO), and New Orleans receives draft rights to Edin Bavcic (2nd round pick in 2006)*
Wright was expendable after the drafting of Harrison Barnes. Richard Jefferson is currently manning the three-spot in G. State and Brandon Rush is expected to come back. Wright can fill in gaps that Lou Williams and Jodie Meeks left with his three-point shooting.

The Warriors receive Jack, a starter in N'awlins but likely a back-up to Stephen Curry. Jack can also slide over to the 2, if need be. But this solidifies the Warriors backcourt.

As for the Hornets, they free up time for their first-round draft pick, Austin Rivers. And they free up more salary in order to match Phoenix's offer sheet of Eric Gordon, who I presume is still singing love songs to the desert.

*Brook Lopez re-signs with the Brooklyn Nets for four years, $61 million*
The Nets didn't wanna come out with zero in the center spot. With offers for Lopez coming from other teams and that Dwi... okay, I don't even wanna say his name anymore. With THAT TRADE not happening, the Nets decided to extend Lopez for the max. Of course, he's not a max player but, sometimes, you have to overpay, right?

In any case, if the Nets want to go for that dude again, Lopez can't be traded until January 15, 2013 under the new CBA. Whatever. I'm just glad this part of the story is over. For now.

*J.J. Hickson re-signs with Portland for one year, $4 million*
Thanks to Sam Amick of S.I. for this. Hickson returns to the team that picked him up at the end of the season. He did well for himself as he scored 15.1 points and grabbed 8.3 boards per game in 19 contests for the Blazers.

Again, it's only for a one-year deal so this is basically an audition for a longer contract anywhere. Not big on Hickson (mostly a hustle guy and SHOULD stay inside) but we'll see if he can keep up his good play in Portland.

*Indiana gets Ian Mahinmi in a sign-and-trade worth four years, $16 million; Dallas gets Darren Collison and Dahntay Jones*
I understand that they won't be able to pay Collison when the time comes. After all, they signed George Hill to an expensive deal. So they traded him and Jones to Dallas for... Ian Mahinmi. As much as Mahinmi has adjusted well in the NBA, I'm not sure if he's the RIGHT back-up big man the Pacers need (they seem ready to let go of Lou Amundson).

Dallas gets a good starting PG in Collison with Jason Kidd bolting to New York. And they get a guy that will do some dirty work in Dahntay Jones. Just don't have him shoot too much.

*Dallas uses amnesty clause on Brendan Haywood and signs 1-year, $8 million deal with Chris Kaman*
Haywood had to go. 5.2 points and 6.0 boards in only 21 minutes of play per game isn't cutting it for someone who will get paid nearly $10 million annually for the next four years. Kaman comes into that spot and will provide a bit more firepower in the middle for Dallas. Plus he's a little familiar with Dirk Nowitzki as they played together in the Germany national team.

*Minnesota uses amnesty clause on Darko Milicic*
