NBA: Raptors and Hornets Agree to 5-Player Trade

According to, well, Marc Spears’ Twitter, the Toronto Raptors and New Orleans Hornets have agreed to a five-player trade on Saturday morning.

Here is what the exchange will mean for both teams:

Hornets will reportedly get Jarrett Jack, David Anderson and Marcus Banks

Raptors will reportedly get Peja Stojakovic and Jerryd Bayless.

Rumors were circulating last night about this deal going down, however, the terms apparently were not finalized until today.

While this isn’t an earth-shattering trade by any stretch, it’s interesting that the Hornets have opted to disrupt the flow of a team that is clearly working well together right now.

Essentially, this deal comes down to the Hornets finally getting a backup point guard for Paul in Jack, and simultaneously ridding themselves of Stojakovic’s awful contract which pays him $14.5 million this year.

Meanwhile, Bayless continues to be shipped all over the league as he tries to find a permanent home in the NBA. Originally traded to the Hornets from the Portland Trail Blazers, the combo guard seemed to struggle to find playing time and the right fit in his short stint with New Orleans.
