So much for the San Antonio Spurs still being control after losing one game. Actually, so much for the Spurs not having any worries even after losing two straight since “series don’t start until the home team loses.” Well folks, the series officially started last night, and it likely just ended too.
The Thunder not only fought through cold stretches to escape San Antonio with a Game 5 win, they did so using the same strategy that got them their first win against the Spurs just a few days back: turnovers and big-time contributions from their “big three.” (Side note: anyone else tired of all these “big threes” in the NBA?).
With tough defense, a never relent attitude and key shots, the Thunder took the fight to the Spurs and came out victorious. We all know the stats about teams that win Game 5, but you don’t need stats to see this is a entirely different team (and series) than what we saw in the first two games. Miami or Boston, get ready (okay, Miami) because the Thunder will be waiting for you in the Finals.
