During yesterday’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, UFC President Dana White appeared during Microsoft’s Xbox 360 conference to announce the UFC’s new partnership with the gaming and entertainment console, and what it means for the UFC.
“There has never been a better time to be a UFC fan. As you know, we deliver the best fights in the world, and now XBOX will revolutionize how fans experience live events on television. You’ll get all the best fights, and compete with your friends. Only on XBOX.” A video was shown right after that showed some of the interactive features fans will be able to utilize, including on demand fights, weigh-in videos, pop-up stats, fight predicting and more. No timetable was set for when it would be available.
This is all kinds of epic. Especially since I own a Xbox 360. The video also showed that you could purchase PPV events as well.
Jason “Mayhem” Miller told HeavyMMA that he’s excited to coach on TUF 14. “I feel great getting the TUF spot. It’s a little early to start the smack talk but I’m going to beat the bangers and mash out of Bisping after my team smashes his team. Now that Osama is dead, Bisping is the most hated man in America. Everybody hates that guy. I wonder what it’s like to actually be hated that much. You would have to put a terrorist attack together to be hated any more than he is.” That might be a tad bit much. Osama? I mean, I don’t like Bisping, but he’s not close to Osama. But if this is a sample of what’s to come, TUF 14 will be entertaining.
TUF 12 winner Jonathan Brookins told MMAJunkie.com, “I’m going to drop down to the 145-pound division. There, I think I can make the most fireworks. There are a lot of great fights there.” Awesome, another TUF fighter moving down in weight after winning the show at a different weight. How about we find guys who are natural whatever-weight-class-they-are-trying-to-win weight?
MMAWeekly.com is reporting that Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza will step back into the cage this September 10 against Luke Rockhold. This is a pretty good fight. Both guys are going to have some rust to shake off though. Souza hasn’t fought in 8 months and Rockhold over a year.
According to a report from MMAWeekly.com, UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar is on target for a return to the cage in late September or early October. Looks like he is healing faster than previously thought. That’s the good news. The bad news, he’s going to have to fight someone he already beat. Ha!
