MMA News: Rousimar Palhares vs. Alan Belcher Going Down at UFC on FOX 3

UFC president Dana White announced yesterday that middleweights Alan Belcher and Rousimar Palhares have been pitted against one another for the third UFC on Fox fight card.

From the UFC boss:

Alan Belcher vs Rousimar Palhares fight added to FOX card!!!!!!

Belcher (17-6) returned from a detached retina which threatened his career this past September to take out Jason MacDonald via first round TKO. As a result of the detached retina and other injuries, Belcher has only fought once each year since 2009, though he showed little ill effect from that staggered pace when he met MacDonald at UFC Fight Night: Shields vs. Ellenberger. On a three-fight winning streak, The Talent is looking to prove that he deserves to be counted amongst the best at 185lbs.

Rousimar Palhares (14-3) may have a reputation for mentally lapsing during competition, but he's also the single most effective leg lock specialist in MMA. Toquinho is also riding a three-fight winning streak, punctuated by his seventh career leg lock submission, a brilliant heel hook over Mike Massenzio at UFC 142 this past January.

UFC on Fox 3 is expected to take place on May 5 at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The card is also rumored to feature a welterweight tilt between Josh Koscheck and Johny Hendricks.
