Michael Bisping is One Win Away From Getting a Shot at Anderson Silva
Michael Bisping has been in this position before. Bisping will earn a shot at UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva if he can get past Vitor Belfort.
The two collide in January at UFC On FX: Belfort Vs. Bisping from Brazil. UFC president Dana White confirmed the possible title shot following UFC 155: Dos Santos vs. Velasquez II Saturday.
"Yeah, if Bisping wins that fight, he'll get the next shot," White said.
Bisping (23-4) has won five of his last six, with the lone loss coming via decision to Chael Sonnen. He toppled Brian Stann earlier this year, but has been close to a title shot before, only to come up short.
The 33-year-old Bisping was undefeated when he lost a split decision to Rashad Evans in 2007. That prompted a move to middleweight, and he won three straight fights before being knocked out by Dan Henderson.
Bisping defeated Denis Kang in his next fight, but dropped a decision to Wanderlei Silva before stringing together four-straight wins.
