Michael Bisping believes he has been a patient fighter. Bisping, a former winner of The Ultimate Fighter, has yet to reach a title shot since joining the UFC.
That doesn't mean Bisping is at the back of the pack. No, he just hasn't been able to secure the final win to vault him into contention.
In January, "The Count" will face Vitor Belfort in a key contest at UFC on FX: Belfort vs. Bisping. The card will air from Brazil, and the winner will likely position themselves well in the middleweight division pecking order.
Bisping, in a recent interview with ESPN, was asked his take on Chael Sonnen receiving a shot at UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Sonnen is coming off a loss for the UFC middleweight crown against Anderson Silva, and will have competed in three title matches in his last five fights overall when he collides with "Bones" in April.
"I can understand it from a business perspective because Chael sells," Bisping said. "But it's frustrating because I've been waiting my whole career for a title shot, and the guy's had three out of his last five fights be title fights. But I do understand and it'll be a great season of The Ultimate Fighter."
Bisping's last loss came to Sonnen, as he was handed a close decision defeat. That win propelled Sonnen into his match with Silva.
