Count Melvin Guillard among those that want to see Anthony Pettis defeat Joe Lauzon Saturday night at UFC 144: Edgar vs. Henderson. Guillard's reasoning is that he hopes a loss by Lauzon would set him up to rematch "J-Lau" in the near future.
Guillard lost by submission to Lauzon late last year via rear-naked choke, and now "The Young Assassin" wants revenge.
"Lately on my Twitter some posted have been popping up and I'm like, 'What the hell is this?' So I'm looking and next thing I know it's people talking about Joe Lauzon hit the nail on the head, he was right, so I went in and read the article and all of a sudden he's blasting me talking about he slapped me and he choked me out, and Melvin's going around telling everybody I got lucky," said Guillard, in a reason interview with MMAWeekly.com.
Guillard added that he didn't mean the fight was a fluke on Lauzon's part, more on his own way of fighting. He said that he's never had a rematch among his 10 career losses, but, "I have something to prove against Joe Lauzon, so this is a rematch I'm asking for."
