Matt Hughes Weighs in Regarding Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen
UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes may share similar political views to Chael Sonnen, but that doesn't mean he's backing West Linn's most infamous realtor in his high-profile rematch against UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
While on the set of UFC Tonight, which airs on FUEL TV, Hughes spoke with MMAJunkie about the recently announced title fight between Silva and Sonnen (which Sonnen maintains he's not signed on for), asserting his belief that Sonnen won't be able to match the adjustment's Silva's likely to make.
"I don't think Chael can switch it up as much," said Hughes. "I don't think he can do much different, to be real honest. That's what he does, and that's what he's going to do again, probably. And Anderson will be more ready for it this time than he was last time, so we'll see Chael maybe getting hit a few more times this time. I don't think Anderson being any healthier is going to help [Sonnen], I just think he's going to know what Chael is going to do, and he's going to be ready for it. I don't see how Chael could mix it up and be more effective than the last time."
We'll see if Hughes is right when Sonnen and Silva do battle at UFC 147, which is scheduled for June 23 at the Joao Havelange Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
