Martin Kampmann is Ready for a Tough Fight from Jake Ellenberger

Publish date:

If you've listened to many of his pre-fight interviews, you know that Martin Kampmann is looking to finish Jake Ellenberger, and really all of his opponents from here on out.

That may seem cliché or obvious, but when you've been on the wrong end of as many close decisions as Kampmann has, it probably feels worth stating. However, the devil's in the details, as they say, and Jake Ellenberger isn't prone to being put away. In his thirty-two fight professional career, the 27-year-old has only been stopped once, when he suffered a second-round armbar loss to Delson Heleno much earlier in his career.

But Kampmann is a savvy pro and he isn't underestimating his opponent. He knows that he'll be hard to finish with whatever method he chooses, so he's ready to mix things up and offer dangerous offense from every position.

"I don't know why people keep underrating my jiu-jitsu," Kampmann said in an interview for UFC Tonight. "I've trained jiu-jitsu for a long time, I feel very confident in my ground skills. I definitely feel that if I get the opportunity I can finish the fight with a submission. That being said, Jake's a great wrestler. He's gonna be tough to get to the ground, so I'm prepared to go in there and fight standing up too, mix it up with my boxing."

We'll see how well Kampmann mixes things up and if it will be enough to do away with Ellenberger when they meet in the cage tonight at the top of The Ultimate Fighter: Live Finale fight card.
