Marquette’s NCAA Tournament Run Gets Cut Short by Florida

Publish date:

The Marquette Golden Eagles’ signature grittiness and toughness has generally been enough to carry them past almost any opponent. Almost any opponent. On Thursday night, however, they squared off against a Florida Gators squad that wasn’t about to get pushed around.

When it was all said and done, the No. 7 ranked Gators earned a trip to the Elite Eight with a 68-58 victory over the Golden Eagles. Bradley Beal led the way for Florida with 21 points, six rebounds and four assists. Erving Walker and Kenny Boynton also kicked in 11 points apiece in the win. Next up for the Gators: a red hot Louisville Cardinals squad that just unseated No. 1 seed Michigan State.
