Johnny Manziel Involved In Hotel Brawl

Johnny Manziel is once again surrounded by controversy. According to a police report, the Browns’ backup quarterback was involved in a fight at a Cleveland Hotel at 2:36 a.m. on Saturday.

The report does not list Manziel as a suspect. It states that a fan, Chris Gonos, was assaulted by Manziel and “his entourage” after approaching the Heisman Trophy winner.

Gonos, the alleged victim, told the police that he approached Manziel saying “I’m the biggest Browns fan ever, I love you, I want to give you a hug,” according to the police report.

The report says Gonos suffered a swollen right eye and lip from the altercation.

Manziel’s side of the story comes from one of his associates, Dana Kirk, who told the police that "the victim attempted to assault his client and he defended him," according to the report.

Erik Burkhardt, Manziel's agent, denied any of Gonos’ reports.

"Johnny and his roommate had been out to dinner earlier in the evening with Johnny's mother, who is staying with him this week," Burkhardt said. "There was no entourage. Johnny and his roommate were trying to get on the apartment elevator at his home when they were accosted by a very aggressive man and his associates. It was an unfortunate situation and he immediately let Ray Farmer [Browns general manager] and the team know what happened."

According to the police report, there is footage from the incident, but the hotel security director declined to comment after being reached out to on Monday.

Manziel traveled with the team to Atlanta later that Saturday. Browns head coach Mike Pettine says he spoke with Manziel briefly about the incident and there are no further issues.
