Eight-weight world champion Manny Pacquiao will have to wait until December to make a first ring appearance since losing his WBO welterweight crown to Timothy Bradley.
Promoter Bob Arum put the delay down to Pacquiao’s “personal affairs” however did not suggest that the fight would be cancelled altogether.
The Filipino has yet to announce an opponent for his yuletide bout, however the change of date is understood to rule out the prospect of a rematch with 2009 victim Miguel Cotto.
Undefeated Bradley, who inflicted Pacquiao’s first defeat in over seven years earlier this summer, has been chomping at the bit to secure a rematch in order to quell doubts about the legitimacy of his victory.
The other frontline option for December would be a fourth meeting with Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez whom Pacquaio edged in another controversial fight last year.
