Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez have fought on four separate occasions. Generally speaking, when two boxers meet as many times as these two have met, you begin getting some sort of feel for the action. You know if one guy does such and such, then something will happen. If the other guy does so and so, something else will happen.
That is not the case here.
Despite all of the film and history we have as it pertains to Pacquiao and Marquez, there is absolutely no way of knowing what the future holds when they meet again.
In their first match, these two fought to a -- sort of -- draw. Pacquiao technically would have won the match had each judge scored it correctly, but that didn’t end up happening. In the second match, the Filipino star earned a controversial decision victory. In the third match, he earned an even more controversial victory – one that many believe he didn’t deserve. And in the fourth match, of course, Marquez leveled Pacquiao with the knockout punch heard around the worst.
Due to how close their first three fights were, and because Marquez came into the fourth fight boasting a whole new physique, it’s impossible to know what will happen when they meet for the fifth (and presumably last) time.
During a recent interview, Marco Antonio Rubio weighed in on how he foresaw the final chapter of this storied rivalry being written.
"Manny Pacquiao has a high chance of winning the 5th fight with Juan Manuel Marquez. Marquez won it fair and square in the 4th fight, but you know Pacquiao just has balls,” he said.
Clearly Rubio is unbiased observer, so if he thinks Pacquiao has a chance in the fifth fight, it’s because he truly believes it.
