Manny Pacquiao Reaches Out to Floyd Mayweather’s Team About Possible Fight

The mere mention of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. fighting elicits scoffs from most legitimate boxing fans, and rightfully so. Over the past three years, this dynamic duo has consistently built up hope for a potential super fight only to then immediately squash it just when things appear to be looking good.

That being said, there is a reason why Pacquiao and Mayweather will be connected until the day they retire. Because of the build-up for their prospective bout, people want to see it so badly at this point that they won’t even care about the circumstances surrounding it. Both guys are over the hill? No problem. Both guys are doing it because they are low on better options? It’s all good. Just fight.

Due to Marquez ducking Pacquiao and Robert Guerrero being unable to come to terms with Mayweather, boxing fans may soon end up getting their wish. During a recent interview with Pro Boxing Insider, Jeff Mayweather acknowledged that a bout against their Filipino rival was once again a legitimate option.

"They know that if it doesn't happen now it won't be worth anything. I got text messages from his advisor so it's a situation where I will talk to Floyd to see if that fight can potentially be made," he said.

"They don't have a position so they would either need to take what was offered or there wouldn't be a fight," he added. "More than likely it would probably be Dubai, there is a whole load more money in Dubai so the chances are it would probably be there."

But what about Robert Guerrero?

"He wanted $4 million and Floyd said he would get $2.5 million but he didn't want to take it. He didn't want it so Floyd moved on to the next person and he still might move onto someone else."

Well, that explains the Devon Alexander thing.

Will this bout actually come together? Who knows. Fans have been disappointed too many times before to get all excited about it like suckers on this go-round. That being said, at least the door is open. It could still happen. And after so many years of failure, that’s pretty much all you can ask for.
