In the biggest, most surprising moves of this young 2010-11 NBA season, the Orlando Magic are set to complete two different trades that will get them Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas, and Hedo Turkoglu and Jason Richardson from the Phoenix Suns.
First, Orlando is sending Vince Carter, Mickael Pietrus, Marcin Gortat, a first round pick and $3 million to the Suns for Turkoglu and Richardson.
Then, the Magic will send Rashard Lewis to the Wizards, reportedly straight up, for Arenas.
The rumor that Arenas was headed to Orlando began to gain some credence when Yahoo Sports reported that he had told people privately that he believed a deal was brewing with the Magic.
After losing five of their last six games, this appears to be a desperation move by the Magic to remain amongst the elite teams in the East.
Arenas has four years and $60 million remaining on his deal with Washington.
Lewis has three years and $66.5 million remaining on his contract.
The Daily Heat will monitor any changes to these trades as they occur.
