Despite earlier failed attempts to make the fight, it appears Lucian Bute may still face Carl Froch.
Showtime, who broadcast Bute’s fights across the Atlantic, initially rejected a bout between the two instead preferring to see Bute take on an American challenger.
Thus it was thought Froch would thus face Librado Andrade in a homecoming fight whilst there was talk of a Bute/Dirrell bout but it appears Bute intends to push the fight with Froch by any means.
Today the IBF super middleweight tweeted:
Bute has previously been accused of being a home fighter, refusing to leave the safety of Canada to take on challengers, but he took on Jean Paul Mendy in his native Romania and it appears he has now caught the travelling bug.
If the undefeated fighter is serious about taking on Froch, even in England, it will go some way to silence his critics. It now just remains to be seen if Jean Bedard can reach an agreement with Froch’s promotional team, Matchroom Boxing.
