Lou Piniella Says Blue Jays ‘Raped' Marlins In Offseason Trade

Former Major League Baseball manager and noted hot head Lou Piniella used the word “rape” when talking about a trade that was made during baseball’s offseason.

While working during the Yankees-Red Sox exhibition game as a broadcaster for the YES network, Piniella got in a discussion with his co-anchor Ken Singleton. The two were discussing a trade where the Miami Marlins sent players — including Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle and Josh Johnson — to the Toronto Blue Jays and got relatively nothing in return.

“I don't want to use the word ‘raped,’ but they (Toronto) basically took a lot of talent from the Miami Marlins,” Piniella said.

He later apologized. A Yankee official said the organization stood behind Piniella while recognizing he made a mistake, reports The Daily News.

The video of the incident has been removed from YouTube.
