It’s probably about time former NFL player Dave Meggett goes to jail.
After numerous sexual assault cases in Toronto and North Carolina, Meggett was finally sentenced to 30 years behind bars on charges of criminal sexual conduct and burglary, stemming from an encounter with a college student in North Charleston, S. C. in January 2009.
In 1998, Meggett was arrested in Toronto, Canada, after authorities said he allegedly assaulted an escort worker after a three-way sexual encounter. A trial on the assault charge ended with a hung jury in April 2000. Interestingly enough, the three-way sexual encounter started with a hung Meggett.
In 2007, he was convicted of misdemeanor sexual battery in North Carolina, receiving only two years of probation.
On the better part of his resume, Meggett was a two-time Pro Bowl selection and part of the New York Giants team that won Super Bowl XXV. Also, his 3,708 punt return yards are currently the second most in NFL history. His three to four sexual assault allegations are currently 312th most in NFL history.
