Lindsey Vonn Mocked Tiger Woods' Cheating Scandal Before They Dated

Publish date:

Three years before Lindsey Vonn and Tiger Woods began dating, the pro-skier mocked the pro-golfer's cheating scandal in a Time magazine article.

“They're like, 'Yeah, you're awesome, you go have that sex,” Vonn joked after a member of her entourage told her that Woods would give a few hugs to friends after his infamous press conference.

Vonn went on to describe a skit she would perform about Woods on SNL if they ever asked her.

"There's something you don't know about me," Vonn said. "Tiger, you're like my idol, and I too have a sex problem. That would be freaking funny."

When asked how she would deal with the sports celebrity world in a post-Woods scandal era Vonn told the magazine, "Well, I'm married" — at the time she was married to her ski coach, Thomas Vonn, — "so I don't have that problem. But, um, I guess [Woods] is married too. I mean, I guess if you have secrets, you have an issue. I've kind of been open about everything."

Vonn, like much of the world, has forgiven Woods for his past indiscretions as the couple has just recently confirmed that they are dating.

“I guess it wasn’t a well-kept secret but yes, I am dating Tiger Woods. Our relationship evolved from a friendship into something more over these past few months and it has made me very happy,” Vonn wrote. “I don’t plan on addressing this further as I would like to keep that part of my life between us, my family and close friends. Thank you for understanding and your continued support!”

“This season has been great so far and I’m happy with my wins at Torrey and Doral. Something nice that’s happened off the course was meeting Lindsey Vonn,” Woods said. “Lindsey and I have been friends for some time, but over the last few months we have become very close and are now dating. We thank you for your support and for respecting our privacy. We want to continue our relationship, privately, as an ordinary couple and continue to compete as athletes.”
