Fantasy Football: Steelers Rashard Mendenhall is Unreliable

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall fumbled only twice last season, and three times in 2009. He seems like a pretty trustworthy, responsible guy, right?

Mendenhall completely melted this week, when the lights were the brightest. He fumbled with his mouth at a time when we weren’t even really looking for him to contribute. As a result, I cannot trust the guy. And I do not want him on my Fantasy Football team. He is a loser, and I do not want losers in my midst.

Just as a refresher, or in case you missed it, Mendenhall posted some irresponsible, misguided comments on his Twitter page earlier this week in reference to the death of Osama bin Laden and the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

“We’ll never know what really happened. I just have a hard time believing a plane could take a skyscraper down demolition style.”

Are you kidding me?!!!!!! Do you think it was an accident? Rashard, put your chin strap over your mouth, because you’re sounding like a moron. We all saw the towers go down with our own eyes. And you still have a hard time believing it? Well, I have a hard time believing you actually went to any of your classes at the University of Illinois.

Do you really believe that we do not know the truth, or what is close to the truth? Have you taken too many hits to the head already?

“What kind of person celebrates death? It’s amazing how people can HATE a man they have never even heard speak. We’ve only heard one side…”

In case you forgot, or never paid real attention, Rashard, bin Laden HAS spoke for all of us to read and hear. It’s right here for you to read, if you can actually comprehend it. Don’t open your mouth other than to tell us anything except how you followed a block. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about.

More from Mendenhall:

“I believe in God. I believe we’re ALL his children. And I believe HE is the ONE and ONLY judge.”

“Those who judge others, will also be judged themselves.”

“For those of you who said you want to see Bin Laden burn in hell and piss on his ashes, I ask how would God feel about your heart?”

“There is not an ignorant bone in my body. I just encourage you to #think.”

There are not ignorant bones in your body. Your mind makes you ignorant, Rashard. Spare us the hollow religious diatribes. You obviously learned nothing in church and you are simply mindlessly repeating messages of what you have heard. Your “sermons” do not fit in the context of what is being discussed. You should just pipe down, because you are now embarrassing your church as well as yourself. You probably failed out of Sunday school as well.

This is not about one simple death, you Pitt dimwit. It’s much more complex than that, and even if I explained it to you, it probably would not penetrate. It’s a wonder you have absorbed a professional playbook.

You have no idea of the pain and suffering that was widespread 10 years ago, and how this event brings closure to many who suffered much more painful losses than the one of an evil man you obviously know little to nothing about. The death of bin Laden signals the possible end or reduction of more death itself. I would not expect you to comprehend that, though, Rashard.

I cannot have such a sickening, small-minded person associated with me in any way. When I read this malarkey, I nearly trashed my Pittsburgh Steelers jerseys. But Steelers president Dan Rooney quickly offered a classy statement that quelled any anger we should towards the organization.

“I have not spoken with Rashard so it is hard to explain or even comprehend what he meant with his recent Twitter comments. The entire Steelers’ organization is very proud of the job our military personnel have done and we can only hope this leads to our troops coming home soon.”

Good enough. But I cannot bring myself to link to Mendenhall in any way otherwise. I will never, ever draft him or have him on my Fantasy Football team ever again. In fact, I have a good mind to ban any mention of him at all on Why even use his name? Our 2011 cheat sheets can simply say RB1, Pittsburgh.

I do not care what the rules of Fantasy Football success are, spare me. I would rather lose in Fantasy than associate myself with a crackpot.
