It’s not easy being Amar’e Stoudemire these days.
Between dealing with injuries, trying to mesh with Carmelo Anthony, being an object of ridicule for his on-the-court performance, being an object of ridicule for his off-the-court fire extinguisher-punching and all the of the inevitable trade rumors that he’ll have to deal with this summer – you can’t really fault Stoudemire for being testy.
And testy is exactly what he was this weekend, when a fan more or less trolled him on Twitter for no real reason.
Here is a short recap of what happened, via the good folks at Deadspin:
Amar’e sent out this tweet: “Workout complete. 7am-11:30am.”
A guy going by the handle @Bferrelli then sent him a message saying: “you better come back a lot stronger and quicker to make up for this past season mannnnnn deadasss!!!”
To which Amar’e apparently replied via DM: “F**k you, I don’t have to do any thing f*g,”
Eventually, presumably having come to his senses, Amar’e sent an apology: “I apologize for what I said earlier. I just got off the plane and had time to think about it. Sorry bro!! No excuses. Won’t happen again.”
So there you go. Make of this incident what you will.
