Kevin Youkilis Gets Traded to the Chicago White Sox

Publish date:

After all the trade rumors that we heard about for God knows how long, the Boston Red Sox finally made the move to trade third-baseman Kevin Youkilis to the Chicago White Sox. In return, Boston gets utility man Brent Lillibridge and right-hander Zach Stewart, according to the Associated Press.

“There is no way we are not a better team with Kevin Youkilis,” said White Sox captain Paul Konerko. “He is just too good of a player and has been through all the wars and is still relatively a young guy. We just have to keep him on the field. If that is the case, it could be one of the bigger steals of the season.”

“I know how much he means to this city. Two World Series here. Played his heart and soul out every day. Just a great teammate. I’m going to miss him,” said Red Sox OF Cody Ross.

The 33-year-old Youkilis will help the Chicago greatly, seeing as they’re in dire need of a quality third-baseman after ranking dead-last in most 3b numbers all season long.

That said, Youkilis has gone through injury problems over these past few seasons, so it’s understandable why the Red Sox traded him.

Youkilis, so far, has batted .233 with four homers and 14 RBIs. We’ll see how he does in Chicago.
