Kevin Youkilis Agrees to 1-Year Deal with New York Yankees

Kevin Youkilis, one of the most beloved players on the Boston Red Sox roster during his time with the team, is going to be wearing a New York Yankees uniform next season.

According to ESPN, 34-year-old Youkilis has agreed to a one-year, $12 million deal with the Evil Empire. He will play third base for the Yankees in place of hobbled media punching bag, Alex Rodriguez.

Last season, Youkilis hit 19 homeruns and 60 RBIs in 111 games. After famously feuding with Bobby Valentine, he was shipped off to the Chicago White Sox where he spent the duration of his season.

New York did not enter Winter Meetings with the intention of bringing on Youkilis. As per ESPN, they were originally interested in adding Jeff Keppinger and Eric Chavez. Unfortunately the latter got a one-year, $3 million deal from the Arizona Diamondbacks, and the former got a three-year deal from the White Sox.

Over the past three seasons Youkilis has averaged 115 games per year. It will be interesting to see how his back holds up in New York.
